Nick Hakim

Nick Hakim will release his debut full-length album Green Twins via ATO Records on May 19, and the release will be preceded by a North American & European tour. The anticipated album follows his breakthrough Where Will We Go, Pt. I & II EPs that were self-released. Green Twins is an experimental step forward with emotional heft gleaned from his experiences in the years since. Intimate first single, “Bet She Looks Like You,” was recorded mostly in the New York-based singer-songwriter’s home bedroom, and was one of the first songs that saw Hakim embrace his new experimental way of songwriting and recording. The Brooklyn-based, Washington, D.C.-raised musician grew up in a household overflowing with musical diversity and cites influences ranging from soul to hiphop, to South American folk, lo-fi  and DC punk. It comes as no surprise that Nick tends to blend genres, mixing an ambient airy psychedelic sound with the raw gut-wrenching emotion of the blues. The new record draws from influences spanning Robert Wyatt, Marvin Gaye and Shuggie Otis to My Bloody Valentine. “Nick Hakim makes soulful music that feels lovingly dreamy and hopelessly bleary at once... his layered vocals swim across each other and send shivers down your spine.” – NPR Music

Lubiana's fusion of Soul, Jazz and African Folk reflect a unique connection to her heritage. She recently discovered the Kora and immersed her soul in the study. She has found new textures and rhythms, hypnotic and meditative to couple with her rich emotive voice that touch the heart, transfix and transport you to a different realm. Her music a balm, her voice rings true in the permanent paradox that is 21st century life.
